Design of Cams

BRIEF ABSTRACT

Cam provides an excellent application to motivate students to study the relationships of position, velocity, acceleration, and jerk. The problem is designed as a project accessible to students who are familiar with the derivatives and anti-derivatives. In essence, the problem asks students to determine the "lift" function that satisfies certain properties, and then to note properties of the function and reflect on their solution.
