Note that throughout the curricula courses in the humanities and social sciences are required of all students. Each student is encouraged to take additional non-technical courses as electives.
FRESHMAN YEAR

*Students qualified for advanced placement in chemistry may be given credit by examination for this course or may be permitted to enroll in CHEM 112, General Chemistry, Honors, instead of CHEM 111.
**Humanities and Social Science courses are denoted by the prefixes RH, GL, SL, VA, GE, JP, and SP.
***Students qualified for advanced placement in mathematics may be given credit by examination for one or more of these courses. The requirement for MA 111 may be fulfilled by MA 101 and 102 in certain cases.
****Veterans, members of the Reserve, and foreign nationals may request exemption from the Military Science requirement. The Professor of Military Science and Registrar will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis.

enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering curriculum will take CHEM111 &
CHEM113 in their sophomore year and PH111, 112, 113 during the freshman year.
