Prototype optical systems developed

An entrepreneur requested assistance from the Center to develop a prototype version of a telescope with dual magnification. His concept was given to students in an Applied Optics Project Lab course. The students, Julie Brinson (AO 1999) and Jeb Zaun (AO 1999), designed and built a prototype according to the desired specifications. Their concept is now patent pending. An image of the view through the telescope is shown below. The grid of numbers in the target are equally spaced. As you can see the central number 6 is magnified.
