Energy Conservation Measures Implemented
Implemented
nighttime temperature setbacks.
Purchased a thermal
imaging camera to improve equipment efficiencies
and weather
proofing.
Buildings that do
not have 24 hour occupancy are not heated or cooled from 11:00
p.m.—6:00 a.m.
All incandescent
bulbs throughout campus have been replaced with compact fluorescent
lights. Compact fluorescent light bulbs use 1/3 the electricity
and last up to 10 times as long as incandescent bulbs*.
We are utilizing the
Energy Management System to verify that all building control
algorithms are performing as intended.
Energy Conservation Measures
In Process
We are evaluating
and adjusting the amount of outside air brought in to buildings
based upon carbon dioxide levels.
We are
currently testing occupancy sensors throughout the Facilities
Operations building. Occupancy Sensors are devices that detect the
presence of someone entering a room and turns on the lights. The
lights turn off automatically when the room has been unoccupied for
a set period of time.
All campus
buildings will be separately metered (water, gas, electricity). In
order to determine which buildings have the greatest opportunity for
efficiency improvements.
The White
Chapel and
Millennium Fountain water features are cycled off nightly from 12:00
a.m.—5:00 a.m.

How You Can
Conserve Energy
Switch off lights,
computers,
photocopiers and other electrical equipment at night. Enable
energy-saving features on all computers and copiers.
Ensure
that lights and none
essential equipment are turned off when not in use.
Consider
energy-efficiency
when purchasing new equipment. Give preference to equipment with low
power stand-by or sleep features. Purchase Energy Star rated
equipment when available.
Put your monitor to
sleep rather than
use screen savers, they often consume more energy.
Minimize the
use of space heaters. Space
heaters often overload electrical circuits. Contact Facilities
Operations at 877-8425 for room temperature adjustments.
