This award was given by SAE to 22
engineering faculty in the nation. The award is given to "outstanding young
engineering educators". The criteria for selection were significant contributions to
teaching, research and student development.

ASME
Aerospace Division Award for "the outstanding paper presented at the 30th
Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference", April 1990.
This award was for presenting an
outstanding paper at the 30th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and
Materials Conference. The award certificate reads "... for the paper 'A Numerical
Study of Vibration Localization in Disordered Cyclic Structures' which was judged an
outstanding contribution to the engineering profession ...." There were approximately
250 papers presented at the conference.

Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship, August 1985 - July 1988.
I received an NSF graduate fellowship to
attend graduate school at Princeton University. I was also selected to appear in the NSF
booklet "Profiles in Excellence" that contained biographies of 63 NSF Graduate
Fellowship recipients and was used to promote the program.
